Grand Canyon Trip (2024)

Total Cost: $350 (payable to Engage Truth Ministries) + money for meals on the road

Pre-trip training:

  • Pre-trip info meeting: Sat, march 2nd, 9am-10am at Coronado Baptist Church in the Osborne room.


Schedule: It will be very similar to our 2022 trip. Click here for more info on our past 2022 trip.


Basic Schedule:

  • Tuesday, March 12th- Drive up to Shiloh of the Pines Camp near the Grand Canyon.

    • Meet at CBC at 6am to load up and leave to Shiloh.

    • Shiloh Address: 2284 S Perkinsville Rd, Williams, AZ, United States, Arizona

      • Bathroom Break- silver city.

      • Rest stop & pictures at Luna Lake near Alpine

      • Lunch on the road in Springerville, Az. (subway on E. Main)

      • Stop in Winslow or Flagstaff (as necessary)

        • Return stops

          • Winslow or Springerville

          • Silver city lunch on the way back

    • Arrive around 3-4pm

    • Small Group goes shopping for weekly food

    • Dinner-5:30 or 6pm

    • 6pm- Evening Team Building games

    • 7pm- Worship- signing, worldview & evangelism training, prayer groups

    • 10pm- lights outs

  • Wed- Canyon Ministries tour on the South Grand Canyon Rim (mix of driving to locations as well), lunch on the Rim and then evangelism on the rim.

    • 5am- Cook breakfast and prepare lunches for entire group

    • 6am- Breakfast at 6am (morning devo at 6:05am)

    • 6:30am- chores

    • 7am- Leave camp to meet Canyon Ministries guide at the South Rim at 8am. (Pack snacks and lunch)

    • 8am-12pm- Canyon Ministries tour

    • 12- lunch on the Rim

    • 1-4 pm- Evangelism on the Rim (evangelism groups)

    • 4:15-Drive back to Shiloh of The Pines

    • 5- Dinner prep (free time if not cooking)

    • 6- Dinner

    • 7- Team building

    • 8- Worship- signing, reflection & prayer groups

    • 9- Free time/Fellowship/evening snack until lights out

    • 10- Lights out

  • Thursday- Canyon Ministries tour on the South Grand Canyon Rim, lunch on the Rim and then evangelism on the rim. (Smaller group may hike down the canyon halfway in the afternoon)

    • Same schedule as Wed except a potentially later departure back to camp.

    • Charlie fencing activity during gametime.*

  • Friday- Reflection and Team building day- Red Mountain Volcano tour with Canyon Ministries and processing the week together.

    • Breakfast at 6:30am (chores done immediately after)

    • Devo at 7am

    • Leave at 8am to pick up Canyon Ministries guide in Flagstaff to go to Red Mountain Volcano (bring lunch)

    • Leave around 2pm back to Flagstaff. Look around Flagstaff for a little bit (touristy stuff)

    • Head back to Shiloh around 4pm

    • 5pm- Dinner prep

    • 6pm- Dinner

    • 7pm- Team Building/games

    • 8pm- Reflection on the week

    • 9pm- Stargazing

    • 10- Lights out (clean up and pack the night before)

  • Sat, March 16th- head home

    • breakfast at 6am (devo at 6:15am)

    • Leave by 7am

Adults: All adults need to be able to pass a background check.


Packing List:


  • Sleeping bag or bed sheets (twin size) and pillow

  • Warm jacket

  • Hiking shoes

  • Bible, notebook & pencil

  • Flashlight

  • Sun shades

  • Water bottle or camelback

  • Toiletries, shampoo, towel, wash cloth & shower sandals (there are showers at the cabins we are staying in)

  • Any prescription medicine needed (please notify Caleb or head girls counselor)

  • Small first aid kit (We will have a large Engage one as well)

  • Money for 2-3 meals on the road and/or snacks at gas stations (or bring your own snacks and/or food to eat on the road)

  • Great attitude ready to learn, encourage others, forgive as necessary and share the gospel!

  • Your guide to the Grand Canyon book (not required but recommended)

Do not bring:


  • Weapons, drugs, explicit material or immodest clothing
